Born 29/3/91 in Bentivoglio, Italy.
A striker and Italian Under 21 international who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2007 from Bologna, Fabio captained his country at the 2010 European Under 19 Championships.

He was joint top scorer for the reserves in the 2009/10 season as he scored five times in 13 games, following up his four in eight appearances the season before, when he also scored 11 times in 10 youth outings.

A natural finisher who found the net in a memorable FA Youth Cup win at Old Trafford in 2008, Fabio's play became increasingly assured and he began 2009/10 strongly, making his first-team debut as a sub against Tottenham in September 2009; his first start against QPR in the League Cup that same month, and going on to make a further six appearances from the bench but without finding the net.

Having not featured in the first team in 2010/11, he underwent a shoulder operation in November but returned strongly with three goals in four reserve appearances before in March, moving on loan to Championship promotion-chasers Swansea for the rest of the season.

Six goals in 12 games helped the Swans, managed by former Chelsea reserve team coach Brendan Rodgers, to promation to the Premier League via the play-offs.

His 12 goals for Chelsea Reserves in 2010/11 prior to the loan were enough to be topscorer across the whole Premier Reserve League.
